What we offer
Tender Learning Centre offers programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, Kindergarteners, and children of school age up to fourteen years. We offer after-school care for the school-aged child, which includes some holidays, snow days, school vacation weeks, as well as summer camp programs. Children are enrolled from the surroundings communities, including Billerica, Wilmington, Tewksbury, Woburn and Reading.

Welcome to the Infant Room
This is the younger of our two infant rooms, which is designed for infants ranging from two months to approximately ten months. In this room the schedule will match the needs of each individual child, based on feedback from the parents. Each child receives one on one care from the teachers, as well as has playtime with toys, swings and bouncers within the room. On nice days, teachers will take the infants for a walk in our strollers to get fresh air. The ratio is seven children to two teachers. All children are moved to the Crawler room when they are developmentally ready; usually after they begin pulling themselves up and crawling.
Welcome to the Crawler Room
This is the older of our two infant rooms, which is designed for infants ranging from ten months to approximately seventeen months. The ratio is seven children to two teachers. In this room the schedule will match the needs of each individual child, based on feedback from the parents. Typically the child has two naps per day, one on one time with the teachers, crafting activities as well as playtime on the mats with toys. On nice days, teachers will take the infants for a walk in our strollers and to one of our toddler playgrounds once they are able to walk. All children are moved to the Toddler room when they are developmentally ready; usually once they lose their morning nap, start to become verbal and can feed themselves.
Welcome to the Toddler Room
The Toddler Room ranges in age from fifteen months to two years old. In the Toddler room there are many activities including story time, songs, art projects, bubbles and much more! All of the activities are flexible and based on the needs of the children. The Toddler class has a more structured schedule with two snack times, lunch and one afternoon nap. They have dedicated outside time twice a day in one of our two toddler playgrounds. The ratio is two teachers with nine children. The children move up to the Two’s when they are of age or developmentally ready.
Welcome to the Two’s Room
In the older Toddler room, the curriculum is designed to continue to develop their knowledge of colors, shapes of the alphabet, weather and nursery rhymes. The children learn a lot through interactive play, activities, stories and weekly themes. They have dedicated outside time twice a day in one of three age appropriate playgrounds. The ratio is three teachers with thirteen children in this room. The children move up to the Preschool room when they are 2.9 – 3 years or developmentally ready.
Welcome to the Pre-School I Room
Our Preschool is broken into three classrooms; this is our first Preschool room for our three year olds. The ratio is one teacher to ten children or two teachers to seventeen children. In this Preschool class, there are a lot of themes where we incorporate activities and language arts. The children learn to write the alphabet and their names. Once each child is ready, pre-reading skills and phonics are introduced. Math, Science, Social Studies as well as Arts and Crafts are an important part of this class. They have dedicated outside time twice a day in one of three age appropriate playgrounds, including the main playground which has swings, slides and play structures.

In this class they are preparing for Kindergarten. The curriculum and activities are still based on themes but more involved than the first Preschool class. They continue to work on pre-reading skills and phonics. Math, Science, Social Studies as well as Arts and Crafts are an important part of this class. During the summer months, Pre-K has a program that includes field trips, arts and crafts, cooking, sports, swimming and much more. They have dedicated outside time twice a day in one of three age appropriate playgrounds, including the main playground which has swings, slides and play structures.
Welcome to the Kindergarten Room
Full day certified Kindergarten program is offered with a December cut off date. We also offer an after school Kindergarten program. We provide transportation from local schools in several of the surrounding towns. Summer camp programs for Kindergarten are available. These programs include field trips, arts and crafts, cooking, sports, swimming and much more. They have dedicated outside time twice a day in one of three age appropriate playgrounds, including the main playground which has swings, slides and play structures.

At Tender Learning Centre, our playgrounds are thoughtfully designed to cater to a variety of age groups. From safe, engaging spaces for toddlers to more challenging equipment for older children, each area encourages exploration, physical activity, and social interaction. We believe that outdoor play is essential for development, and our diverse playgrounds provide opportunities for every child to learn, grow, and have fun!
Our Wilmington playground features five distinct areas: the Ship Playground, the Swings Playground, a Bike Area, and two Toddler Playgrounds, one of which transforms into a splash zone on hot summer days.
